Footage of the incident shows police officers arriving at the scene as the bystander grabbed a portable fire extinguisher from his vehicle and used it to control the blaze so that emergency personnel could reach the trapped passenger. The driver was hospitalized but made a full recovery. First responders credited the extinguisher use with creating the conditions that allowed for a safe and timely rescue.
