Longport, NJ – Bystanders in Longport, NJ are being credited for preventing disaster after using a portable fire extinguisher to stop a food truck fire. As the food truck workers struggled to put out the flames, a neighbor assisted a nearby off-duty officer with a portable fire extinguisher. Together, they put out the fire before it could spread to a large propane tank at the rear of the truck. When fire crews arrived, the fire was fully extinguished. The Longport Police Department issued a safety alert afterward, urging residents and businesses to keep fire extinguishers on hand. Although one worker was treated for burns at the hospital, no other injuries were reported.
