Somerset, MA – Quick-thinking staff at the Somerset Ridge Center nursing home are being credited with containing an early morning fire on August 7. When a blaze broke out in an unoccupied community room on the second floor, staff immediately isolated the room and used portable fire extinguishers to suppress the flames. Somerset Fire officials praised their actions, noting that staff not only contained the fire, but they also sheltered and relocated residents to safety. All 127 residents were kept safe, and no injuries were reported.
